Ester Stang, longtime teacher in Holbrook, says it’s the people who make this home for her.

“My husband, the high school coach, died five years ago, she says.  Every summer some of the boys he coached come over and mow my lawn.

“My husband was from Hawaii. He said he would move here and live with me all the days of my life as long as I learned to cook Hawaiian food.  I did.  We would go to Hawaii to visit every year.  After we came home, we would sit outside and watch the sunset, and my husband would say, “Now, this is paradise.”

Tributaries

A canal is a course,

a course carries flow,

flow carries feeling,

a feeling is a place,

a place, a store,

a store brings returns,

returns mean re-stocking,

re-stocking has costs,

costs mean trades,

trades expose power,

power is costly,

costs stock as debt,

debt returned is shortage,

shortage stored is deficit,

deficit places feeling

in a hard course of lessons-

canals among the tributaries,

teaching

all flows are creatures

of source, connection,

delivery, and management.
